I want my Blue Gulf forever and this Peninsula full of life!
A natural paradise
San Matías Gulf shelters a unique biodiversity, with protected species and key natural areas like the Valdés Peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Islote Lobos National Park.
A Historical Protection
Since 1999, Law 3308 has protected this gulf from oil exploitation. It was the result of a large popular movement defending its natural wealth.
An oil threat
The recent amendment to the law, approved without public consultation, enables hydrocarbon projects that put the ecosystem, local economy, and marine life at risk.
United for the Blue Gulf
Environmental organizations, scientists, merchants, fishermen, and indigenous peoples have joined forces to defend our sea and prevent irreversible damage.
Our Mission
We want to protect the coasts of San Matías Gulf and its communities, promoting sustainable development that prioritizes nature and social wellbeing.
Join the defense!
From Patagonia to the world, we raise our voices and say together: I want my Blue Gulf forever!
We are a collective made up of civil society organizations and citizens, bringing together NGOs from across Argentina and around the world, especially residents of the Atlantic coast of the Río Negro and Chubut provinces. Our alliance includes local fishers and tourism entrepreneurs, scientific and academic institutions focused on biodiversity, and Indigenous communities. Together, we form a strategic coalition to protect the Blue Sea forever.
Our mission is to mobilize efforts to defend the coasts of the San Matías Gulf, Península Valdés, and their communities from the damage and impacts of fossil fuel activity.
We believe a sustainable future is possible through a development model that puts local communities and ecosystems first. Together, from Patagonia to the world, we say: Blue Gulf Forever!
