Insurers
Insurers play a key role by providing (i) physical asset insurance for offshore platforms, refineries, and pipelines; (ii) liability and environmental insurance, covering risks related to accidents or lawsuits; and (iii) investment of technical reserves in bonds and shares of fossil fuel companies, creating financial exposure to the sector. Without insurance coverage, many high-risk projects could not move forward.
